Romancing the Stacks: One More Moment

Welcome to Romancing the Stacks. This is a series of reviews featuring one of my favorite genres: Romance Novels! Nothing is better than curling up with a good romance. This review will explore One More Moment by Samantha Chase.

I decided it was time to head back to modern times for this book review. The historical romances have not been hitting it out of the park for me. I picked this book up as I thought it was a book I loved, but it was the wrong author. The summary did hook me, who doesn’t love a good undercover rock star story? This book is the third in the series Band on the Run, but the other two were currently unavailable and I really wanted to read this book. I am aware that reading a series out of order may some bits confusing. I have read another series by Samantha Chase and I accidentally read that out of order, but it did not prevent my understanding of the book. I think Samantha Chase is good at continuing a romance while allowing new readers to not feel like they missed anything major if they skip a book or two in my case.

Summary:

But Charlotte has no idea who he is, and Julian can’t resist keeping up the charade–being incognito is a novelty and a relief. He’ll have to tell her…eventually. But as Charlotte cheerfully undertakes to transform his life, Julian realizes there’s something about her that gives him what he hasn’t felt in years: hope

Book Review:

I enjoyed this book. I liked how the secret that he was a rock star was revealed closer to the beginning of the book and not the end. It allowed the relationship to start off without any lies. I think this was a good book that took the secret rock star cliche novel and made it feel new or a least different from similar books and movies on the concept. I liked Charlotte. She had character with a good solid backstory. She was the typical sweet naive heroine, but she was not a push over. Surprising she actually called out Julian, our hero, several times when he was behaving negatively. Julian was a little hard to swallow sometimes though. He kept repeating the same bad behavior over and over. Charlotte would call him out on the behavior and not yell at him or create a fight, but explain why she was upset. I have read too many books where the hero does something wrong and the heroine just blows up at him cut to fight, break-up, and get back together. It was nice having Charlotte try to communicate the problem. I just wanted to shake some sense into Julian with the amount of times Charlotte had to explain things to him. I wasn’t lost when reading this book even though it was the third in the series. It did make me want to read the other books after meeting a few of the characters. I would happily recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance novel or wanted to start a cute and easy to read romance series.
