So, as a whole this series is decent. It manages to capture Native American traditions, Goddess Worship, Paganism and the occult in a fairly positive light. That being said, the characters and writing was very… meh. I understand that they really wanted to capture a teenage voice and teen culture. etc. but come on. There are only so many “Like, omg”‘s I can handle in one book. As the series progresses, the characters do grow; it just seems to take a long time. However, Zoey Redbird herself goes through quite a bit of change and while her inner voice is annoying at times, I must admit the poor kid deserved to cry a little and get some pats on the back.
