Meet the Staff Monday: Antonio Penaherrera

Our Crest Hill Branch is pleased to welcome a new Adult Services Librarian, Antonio!  Antonio previously worked at Crest Hill in the Circulation Department as a desk clerk. Take a few moments to get to know Antonio!

Who is your favorite author?
Carroll Quigley

Do you prefer Fiction or Non-Fiction?
Non-Fiction!

What genres can our patrons quiz you about to find the best books to read?
I read a lot of history and current affairs, especially books on East Asia and China post-1949.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy exercising and going to concerts. My favorite genre of music is punk rock.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
If I could go anywhere, I would travel to Tokyo because I love Japanese culture.

What types of programs will we see you hosting for our Adult patrons?
I would really like to do a program honoring Vietnam veterans. I’d also like to start a writing center similar to the one at my college. It would be to help local students writing papers or working on their thesis.

What are you most looking forward to about working in Adult Services?
I’m really excited to take on more responsibility and to get involved with planning programs for our patrons to enjoy.

What will you miss most about working in the Circulation Department?
I’ll definitely miss the people I work with in Circulation the most.

Tell us something interesting about yourself!
I previously had an internship at the Swedish American History Museum, which was a lot of fun!
