Meet the Staff Featuring Mary Mulligan

Mary is a Clerk in the Circulation Services Department of our Romeoville Branch, and started in mid-February of 2021. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies at Illinois State University.

What are your top three favorite books of all time?
Know My Name by Chanel Miller, Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, and Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay

Who is your favorite author of all time?
I love Roxane Gay! I prefer to read nonfiction over fiction, and I just love everything she writes. I am a very big fan of reading nonfiction with feminist undertones.

What’s your favorite band?
My favorite band of all time is Fall Out Boy. I saw them live at Wrigley Field and this is easily my favorite concert of all time!

What’s your favorite thing about working at the Library?
I love interacting with and getting to know patrons!

What’s your favorite food?
Tacos!! I can eat tacos everyday of the week and never get tired of them!

What’s your favorite color?
Hunter green or black! I definitely prefer cool tones over warm tones.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Spend time with my friends and family! I have recently started doing yoga and fell in love with it!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you travel, and why?
I have always wanted to go to Italy and Ireland to see where my family came from. I would also love to travel to any tropical place because I love spending time in the sun at the beach!

What is one cool fact about you?
I am allergic to dairy and nuts! It’s not necessarily a cool fact, but it does tend to surprise people!
