Meet the Staff Monday with Ben Jansen

Ben started at the White Oak Library District April 2, 2019. He is an Adult Services Specialist in the Adult & Teen Services Department at our Crest Hill Branch.

What are your top three favorite books of all time? The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and Dune by Frank Herbert

What genres can our patrons quiz you about to find the best books to read? Sci-fi and Fantasy

What are your top three favorite bands? The Altogether, Louie Zong, and They Might Be Giants

Do you have any pets? I have a pet ball python named Luci.

What is your favorite thing about working at the Library? Feeling like I make a meaningful difference in the community.

What’s your favorite food? Apple dumplings (paired, of course, with a side of vanilla ice cream).

What’s your favorite color? Midnight Blue

What do you like to do in your free time? Read, listen to podcasts, play tabletop rpgs and trading card games.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you travel, and why? Australia, to go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef before it dies due to climate change. :/

What is one cool fact about you? I make a mean omelette.
