Meet the Staff Monday with Brittany Whyte

Which Branch do you work at? Crest Hill Branch

In which Department? Children’s Services

What’s your position at WOLD? Children’s Services Supervisor

When did you start working at WOLD? I started in October 2015.

What are your top three favorite books of all time? Here’s my children’s books list (in no particular order): 1. Matilda by Roald Dahl. Try the audiobook read by Kate Winslet! 2. Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White is such a classic. 3. Bolivar by Sean Rubin which is the cutest graphic novel about a dinosaur and his NYC neighbors who don’t seem to notice him! This is my favorite book I’ve read in 2018.

Who is your favorite author of all time? Ha! How could I possibly be expected to answer this question?!

What genres can our patrons quiz you about to find the best books to read? Picture books – I read them all when they first arrive at the library, they are my favorites! The art is always so clever and fun, I highly recommend that adults read them, too!

What are your top three favorite bands? I tend to sing a lot of country music in my car – Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, Gavin DeGraw, etc.

Do you have any pets? I have a Shih Tzu-poodle named Eleanor Rigby Roosevelt. She, unfortunately, spends much of her time in Texas with my parents, but you can follow her adventures on Instagram (@eleanorrigbyroosevelt)! Yes, I’m THAT person 😉

What is your favorite thing about working at the Library? I love that every single day is different. Some days I’m ordering books, some days I’m hosting a tea party with dinosaurs, some days I’m turning our department into a jungle – it is certainly never boring around here!

What’s your favorite food? Tacos! Or pretty much anything that is covered in salsa.

What’s your favorite color? Gold Glitter! Glitter makes everything better, right?

What do you like to do in your free time? I love reality TV, running (it’s a great stress reliever!), and long weekends in San Antonio.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you travel, and why? If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you travel, and why? Maui is my absolute favorite place. The culture and folklore, the fresh seafood, the laid-back vibe, and oh yeah, the scenery isn’t so bad either 😉

What is one cool fact about you? I have run 5 marathons! #6 is definitely going to happen in 2019.
