Bitten (Women of the Otherworld #1) by Kelley Armstrong

Kelley Armstrong is my second favorite author in a rather short list. This was the first series I ever read by her and I absolutely fell in love with it. The characters are incredibly visceral, especially Elena. Her inner monologue is tough as hell with a side of Canadian politeness (which is hilarious). This book kicks off the start of a very enjoyable series with action, romance, sex (all I can say is Wow), and a healthy dose of the supernatural.
