Book Review: Scott Pilgrim, Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life (Scott Pilgrim #1)

Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life by Bryan Lee O’Malley

Hilarious, insane, and quite derpy. Scott Pilgrim is the epic adventure of a not-so-epic character. I’m rather picky about the artwork and story in comics but I also try to recognize the incredible amount of work that goes into making comics and manga. So for me, the story only carried me to about 3 stars; it was a little all over the place and the lack of continuity (while funny and probably on purpose) was a touch confusing. The character of Scott himself is rather deplorable; albeit a very real example of that age group. The artwork rounded things out to 4 stars; kudos on the use of color and old school video game art.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
